The Magic of Story Sharing
The consulting relationship requires trust and truth. Consultants use a variety of strategies to get there and, story sharing is one of the most potent of all. Learning and change consultants are constantly trying to unearth an organization’s story of where it was, where it is, and where it wants to be. We can only get to those stories if clients can identify and assemble them, interpret their relevance, and then communicate those stories to us. If consultants know how to facilitate story-making processes, they can help clients make those connections, but, in some cases, building trust is an essential first step.
In this session, you see how to use your own stories to build rapport with clients so that they'll trust you with theirs. We'll show you how to use stories as tools for bringing order, focus, and clarity to the lived experiences that serve as the basis for your learning and change initiatives.
